Thanduxolo swimmers at National Age Group Games

The South African Sports Association for the Intellectually Impaired Summer Games took place from March 18 to March 22 in Kimberley

Swimmers are in action this week.

The South African Sports Association for the Intellectually Impaired Summer Games took place from March 18 to March 22 in Kimberley, Northern Cape.

This prestigious event is presented in association with the Department of Sport & Recreation and the Department of Education.

Athletes with an intellectual disability competing at an elite level not only provide role models for others, but also assist in breaking down the prejudice and ignorance which severely restricts the lives of people with intellectual disabilities.

In total 13 swimmers will represent Mpumalanga of which four swimmers attend Thanduxolo Special School in eMalahleni.

The coach of Sabelo Masango, Njambulo Cumbane, Asiphe Nenzani and Bongani Letsebi, Dion du Plessis from Killer Whale Aquatics says they trained all season for this event and that they are very excited to represent their province and showcase their capabilities.
