Witbank Citylads beat helpless Secunda Stars

Witbank Citylads showed their dominance over Secunda Stars when they beat them during an ABC Motsepe League match.

The match was played at Lynnville Stadium on Saturday, February 2 and Citylads won 3-1 to cement their second position on the log table.

Stars were also denied a chance to score by the ever alert Citylads goalkeeper and Stars place-kick went over the bar.

Citylads lead 2-0 in the first half.

In the second half Stars were a better team but Citylads had a shot saved for a corner-kick.

Stars had two corner-kicks in the first few minutes of the second half but it was not good enough and only a penalty awarded to them reduced the score to 2-1.

Stars were pushing their players forward after making some substitutes but they found Citylads defence very tight.

Citylads scored their third goal after a two-man connection pass to seal the result for them.

A Stars player was sent for an early lay shower via a red card.

Stars now have accumulated 40 points from 19 games with the leaders Acornbush United having 45 points from the same number of games and Stars are placed eleventh with 20 points after playing 18 games.
