Witbank Citylads win the Nkangala derby

Using the 4-4-2 formation, the Citylads game plan was solid from the word go.

Witbank Citylads got an unforgettable holiday present as the 11 men on the field put in their all to win the Nkangala Derby.

The naughty blues won by five goals when playing against their neighbours Mhluzi Black Rangers FC on Wednesday, December 13. The match was played at Lynnville Stadium on Wednesday, December 13.

Using the 4-4-2 formation, the Citylads game plan was solid from the word go.

Moses Zumba gave a spectacular performance when he was the player behind the third, fourth and fifth goals. Witbank Citylads played against Mhluzi Black Rangers on Wednesday, December 13 at Lynnville Stadium.

Only a few minutes into the game, Phumlani Mchunu scored a goal, however Citylads joy was short lived as Mhluzi equalised.

The second goal came from a free kick near the corner spot.

Sbonelo Majola was the player that netted the goal.

With the boys in the lead, Cyril Mollo made sure the opponents could not find the back of the net.

Just minutes before half time, Citylads got a corner and Moses “Moscow” Zumba headed the ball into the net.

The first half was sealed with Citylads leading by three goals to one.

The second half got underway and in less than two minutes Zumba scored yet another goal.

One could only wonder what happened during half time at the respective change rooms as both teams came back to the field energised and ready for a win.

High defence from both sides led to the teams being unable to score.

Mduduzi Ndlovu was one of the players that had a good game.

He dribbled past his opponents but could not get the ball past the goal posts.

It was during this time that Mhluzi retaliated and scored their second and final goal of the match.

In the last minute, naughty blues player Zumba scored yet again. When the referee blew the final whistle the final score was five to Citylads and two to Mhluzi.

“This was a big game for both teams, considering that they came to it motivated from their previous league matches which they have won, and are looking to keep their winning consistency,” said Senzo Dladla, Citylads Public Relations and Marketing Officer.

Citylads next game will be Saturday, January 13 2018 against TS Sporting FC at Lynnville Stadium. Kick-off is at 15:00.
