Research today shows the importance of children’s physical activity is greater than ever before.

Medical researchers, for example, have shown that highly active children are less likely to suffer from high blood pressure, diabetes and colon cancer.

On January 24, the Cambridge Academy in eMalahleni held their annual inter-house athletics competition – with both the primary school and high school students competing.

The air was thick with excitement as the athletes prepared to take part in field and track events; ranging from sprints, to middle distance, to long jump and high jump.

Not only did Cambridge’s athletes prove themselves incredibly capable in competitive athletics, but they did it with huge smiles on their faces.

The area surrounding the sports field was absolutely filled to the brim with spectators and parents, all eagerly waiting to watch some special person give their best in the items of their choosing.
