Will you be at the Greatest Train Race 2015?

With the Greatest Train Race, the aim is to help as many people as possible.
For the last 28 years the Rotary Clubs in Witbank and Middelburg have raised well needed funds for the local community.

This year will mark the 29th annual Greatest Train Race and the aim is to raise R1 500 000 for charity.
“We were overwhelmed by the support received from businesses and the community in the past and are confident that this will continue in years to come. A good example of that is the fact that last year one of the main sponsors had to withdraw from the race, still we managed to raise R800 000 for charity and we had 16 000 entries in the race,” said Max Kohler GTR chairman.

“We do understand that the economic climate is currently not too positive, but we still believe that the businesses and individuals in the local community will stand together and make this race a success once again,” Kohler said.
The Train Race will take place on August 22, starting at 08:00 at the Witbank Train Station for the 28km individual or relay race and at Hermansdal Stall for the 15km walkers’ race.
A 5km fun run was added to the race last year and proved to be a positive add on. The 5km race will make a return this year.
The cost for entry is relay teams: R385, individuals: R75, temporary licence: R25 and 5km fun run: R50. Hospitality site costs available on request.

On June 25 there will be a Train Race Network evening at Kohler Auto to give more detail about the race and sponsorship opportunities. For more information please contact Monica Joao: 083 633 3459.
