Certain parts of Tasbet Park were without water for almost a week. They protested to say enough was enough.
Information was received from the South African Community Crime Watch (SACCW) about the protest that happened on Sunday, August 27 at Kierpersol and Watermeyer Street.
Residents made allegations of not having water for days now at extension 1 and 12, and certain extensions of Duvha Park.

In the afternoon around 16:30, the road was blocked with burning tyres, stones and a truck.
Around 18:00 the protestors moved from Tasbet Park to El Paso’s robots and closed the road. Around 21:00 the road was cleared and commuters were now able to drive on the road.

The Office of the Municipal Manager of the local municipality responded and wrote on their Facebook page that water outages in Clewer, Tasbet Park 12, Ogies and Phola had been reported.
The municipality said on Sunday morning that water tankers were sent to the above areas.
“The reservoirs are no longer serving the purpose of storing water since the demand is higher and Witbank purification plant and the package plant are not keeping up. The mine water (Anglo) is not pumping to Point B currently due to unknown technicalities hence we are currently in a crisis. We are trying all we can to adjust the reservoir levels in order to cover affected areas. The good news is that some of Tasbet Park extension 12 areas are slowly starting to receive water. We will continue rechanneling water to boost supply until the situation normalises, hopefully over night.” The statement further read.

When residents commented on the municipality’s page, admin advised locals to keep checking the reservoir supply points as that is useful information for the locals to read consistently.
