Minibus driver died while transporting scholars

A mini bus transporting school students home from school were involved in an accident on the Clewer/Old Ogies Road.

On Thursday, May 25 at approximately 15:30 an accident occurred bringing the afternoon traffic to a standstill as both lanes of the road were closed.

A mini bus was transporting student’s home in the afternoon, its still unclear how the accident happened, when the mini bus and truck collided.

A policeman standing next to the two vehicles that were involved in an accident on the Clewer/Old Ogies Road on Thursday, May 25, where the driver of the mini bus was killed.

Both vehicles were pushed off the road with the momentum.

Emergency services from the mine in the area rushed to the scene to assist where they could, before various ambulance services from eMalahleni arrived on scene.

The students were stabilised and transported to hospitals in eMalahleni where they were treated.
Mr Bhekizwe Mahlangu (38), the mini bus driver died on scene.

On April 21 a mini bus transporting school children home collided with a truck and burst into flames on the R25 road between Bronkhorstspruit and Verena.

This accident claimed 19 school children’s lives.
