In a previous article, published in the WITBANK NEWS on Friday, March 31 Mr Shabangu told the story where his taxi was impounded at the police station on January 3. He also stated that his taxi then dissapeared from the police station, approximately a month after it was placed in police custody.

“No one told me that my taxi was no longer there. I received a call from the third investigting officer handeling my case and he contacted me to go take photo’s of the taxi. Upon our arrival, we discovered that it was no longer at SAP13, where I had left it,” Shabangu stated earlier.

“This is my only bread and butter and I have been without business since January 3. I have received no correspondence from the police station since the taxi dissapeared. I am at my wits end and desperate for answers,” Shabangu said on Monday, April 24.

Police spokesperson, Sargeant David Ratau, said on Friday, April 21 that he is still busy investigating the story and that the officer who was previously responsible for the investigation, is not at Witbank Police Station any longer.

He added that the reason the case was transferred to Kwa Mhlanga was that the officer working at VIS is no longer in eMalahleni.

He previously stated that a docket was openend and that the case is being investigated internally.

Sargeant Ratau also told Shabangu that he must give him at least a week to get more information regarding this matter and that Ratau himself also reaches dead-ends when he tries to obtain infromation.

This matter is still under police investigation and no further information could be obtained before going to print.
