Kriel police nab hijackers

The vehicle was reported stolen in Embalenhle earlier that day

Thanks to the quick response from Kriel Police, two hijackers now sit behind bars.

On April 7 Kriel Police arrested two suspects for possession of a hijacked vehicle, and possession of an unlawful firearm and ammunition.

Kriel Police were contacted by Tracker who informed them that the Volkswagen Polo Classic was heading in the direction of Ga-Nala. Capt Patrick Nhlambo and Const Mlungiseleli Sihlobo responded and arrested the two suspects that evening at about 21:05.

The vehicle was reported stolen in Embalenhle earlier that day.

The complainant told police that she parked the Polo at the shops as she went to buy airtime and when she returned to the vehicle she was approached by two men.

One of the men pointed a firearm at the woman demanding she hand over her keys, then the hijackers fled the centre in Embalenhle and headed towards Ga-Nala where they were apprehended by police.

“Well done to the arresting officers.” said Station Commander Col Herold Mashile.
