Woman left at Verena Road after her car got hijacked

"The vehicle has not been found yet, we are still searching"

A woman was dropped and left all alone at Verena Road after her car got hijacked.

The incident took place on Monday, March 27 when a woman with her husband where driving from work to their home situated in Klarinet, Extension 3.

They were travelling in a white Mitsubishi bakkie.

It is alleged that when they arrived, her husband descended to open the gate, during that time the suspect came running and climbed into the driver’s seat and drove off. The woman was still in the car. He stopped at the Verena Road next to a substation and instructed her to get off. She was allegedly threatened with a screwdriver and after that the suspect took off.

“The vehicle has not been found yet, we are still searching,” said the woman.

Her daughter further mentioned that her mother is doing well but all this has been hard on her.

The car hijacked is a double cab bakkie with silver linings on both sides which are found at the bottom, its registration number is JDP 171 MP.

Another incident took place on Tuesday, March 28 in Spring Valley. The woman was driving a white Range Rover sport taking her domestic worker home that evening.

After the 38-year-old woman dropped her employee and was heading back home, she came across a white Polo which pushed her to the side, the vehicle allegedly had a siren.

The woman stopped and two suspects came out of the car apparently dressed as police officers. The suspects said they wanted to search the vehicle for drugs; she got out allowing them to proceed doing their job. She further alleged that one of the suspects had a firearm in his possession.

The one suspect got into the vehicle and asked the woman to show him how the car starts, after showing him they drove off with her vehicle. Inside the car was her hand-bag which had her belongings and a cell phone.

Witbank Police spokesperson Capt Eddie Hall said people must be aware of bogus police going around and pretending to be police officers as that is false and those people must not be trusted.
