Kriel shootout case to head to High Court

The nine accused of the Kriel-shootout in Ga-Nala were released on bail last year and have since reappeared before the Kriel Magistrates Court.

The nine accused of the Kriel-shootout in Ga-Nala were released on bail last year and have since reappeared before the Kriel Magistrates Court.

On January 17 the nine accused appeared before court facing numerous charges against them including that of murder and attempted murder.

In their previous appearance Magistrate Brian Maphanga warned the accused to appear before court saying

“This case has created an unnecessary interest in terms of the law and your affidavits are not negated by any evidence. Bail is set at R8 000 for each of you and you are warned to appear in court on January 17.”

Court proceedings were well under way when the eight accused – Messrs December Nkosi, Thamsanqua Kubheka, Daniel Mahlangu, Sam Masina, John Rahube, Wellington Cenenda, Sipho Mahlangu, and Robert Makabathi appeared before the court.

In a decision made by the magistrate the cast was remanded and the eight accused indicted to appear before court on April 3 for the decision on a High Court Date.
