Spurs return with a single point

The Witbank Spurs visited the Mother City for a clash against FC Cape Town and returned with a point.

On Saturday, March 1 Spurs drew 0-0 against FC Cape town and claimed a point putting them on 27 points for the season.

It was going to be tough, as they wanted to get away from the relegation zone whilst Spurs still have high hopes for a play off spot.
“Our cause was not helped by the red card Sici Shelembe received. Lady luck seems to have deserted us. I believe we were the only team not to have been given a penalty in the 23 games we have played and have the highest number of red cards,” said George Khumalo, Spurs PRO.

The trend worries Witbank Spurs as they keep their sights on a playoff spot.

Spurs will be hosting Jomo Cosmos at Puma Stadium on Sunday at 15:30. “We are on a three games unbeaten run and we intend to keep it going. We have not lost to them in our previous five encounters. We will afford them the respect they deserve, but they must brace themselves for a war,” added Khumalo.

Xoli “Pienaar” Themba will be available for selection after serving his one game ban, Humphrey Khoza is still out and Rhulani Manzini is sitting out for one last match in his suspension, whilst Shelembe is suspended for the two upcoming games.
The good news for Spurs is that Mogau Tsehla has started doing light training and will be ready in a week’s time.

“Your presence on Sunday will be highly appreciated by the boys as we enter this phase of the league title. We still have six games at home and three away and if we pick up maximum points at home we will realize our dream,” ended Khumalo.
