Robbery a ‘tyresome’ job

Robbers held security guards at gunpoint at a scrap metal holding in Klarinet.
The armed robbery took place shortly before midnight on December 3.

Eight suspects were reported to have entered the premises, five of them were armed with firearms. They overpowered the security guards on duty then bound their hands and feet using their shoelaces.

The suspects then locked the guards in the guard house while they looted the business.
In his statement to police Mr Ilakome Ngwama claims that the robbers took a number of items including tyres, a computer, a generator, the cash till and printer. The items total value came to over R50 000.

The suspects then fled the scene, guards were later able to contact help and reported the robbery to the police.

To date no arrests have been made, investigations are ongoing with police visiting the scene to lift prints.
