According to the National Institute of Justice in October 2008, about 85 to 90 percent of sexual assaults reported by women are perpetrated by someone known to the victim.
A 12-year- old was allegedly raped by her uncle.
It’s alleged that the mother of the daughter was busy on her cell phone when her daughter come into her house and slept on her bed.
After the mother was done on her phone she asked her daughter what was wrong, at first she could not speak, then the mother gave her some water and she started speaking again.
The daughter went on to say; “that her uncle did something silly to her.” That’s when the mother became concerned and asked her what silly thing did he do to her and she answered; “he raped me.”
It’s alleged that she was playing outside and she wanted to drink water and went inside the house to get her water and she also went to the bathroom.
As she wanted to pull up her jeans, her uncle entered the bathroom and she wanted to shout but he closed her mouth, picked her up and took her to the bedroom.
The daughter then told her mother that her private parts were sore, that’s when her mother checked her underwear and found blood.
The daughter did not bath until she had gone for a rape test kit.
The following rape that took place was in Old Coronation, the 17-year-old who was walking home at 00:10.
She was walking from a friend’s house to go to her uncle’s home, while doing so she was approached by an unknown guy.
They all then went to look for her boyfriend but could not find him. That’s when they decided to go to the tavern, that’s when the unknown person forced her up the hill where she was grabbed by her hair extensions and then pushed into the bushes, where he started raping her, after he raped her he ran away and left a devastated young girl in the bushes.
She does not know the guy by name but if she sees him again she will be able to recognise him.
Since October three minors have reported rape cases, two teenagers and two adults have been raped in the eMalahleni area.
These are the rape cases that have been reported to the Witbank Police Station.
