There was a community meeting earlier this year about the issue, this gathering saw community members laying their problems on the floor but nothing has been done to resolve one of their major problems being the water pipe.

“This pipe leaks thousands of water litres daily while the country has a water crisis. It is not right,” complained one resident.

The municipality did not respond to the complaint by the time of going to press.

While this query is still in line to be solved, a water leak was fixed at Luthuli Street in Lynnville.
Water leaked for two days and when reported, the pipe was fixed two days later.

Mrs She Ngwenya states that a pipe burst in her house near her water meter with water gushing out.

“This happened on Thursday, October 6. I reported it at 07:00 and I was promised that workers will be sent at 09:00. Nobody came and later I sent a sms asking for people to come as the water was flowing at a fast rate, nobody responded to my sms. I then phoned again at 11:00 and I was told that workers were on their way to my place but nobody came,” explained Mrs Ngwenya.

Mrs Ngwenya said that a plastic was used earlier on to join the leaking pipe. Due to the leak they did not have water inside the house but the water meter was running very fast.

As much as the pipe has been fixed she is concerned about the water bill that she will have to pay because of the water wasted.
