Vosman Police have arrested a suspect following the murder of a woman whose body was found in a bush.

Police reported that 27-year-old suspect Xolani Emmanuel Mdebele of Lynnville was arrested on Wednesday, September 28 regarding the murder of his girlfriend Nokuthula Gumede (20).

Gumede was found dead on Friday, September 23 at about 21:30 in the bushes of Kromdraai. Her burnt body was found.
Another suspect Thokozane Brian Moyo (23) was arrested the following day, Thursday, September 29.

The police in Vosman are investigating a case of murder. They reported that they received a tip off on Friday, September 23 at about 23:55 when a security officer working in the area reported that he saw a burning body while patrolling in the area.

When the police arrived the security officer at the Kromdraai Mine showed them the crime scene.
A body of a female was found burnt beyond recognition. She was found laying on her stomach and both her hands were tied with a wire at the back.

According to the information the suspect did have arguments with the girlfriend about money and they started fighting which resulted in her being allegedly killed.

The suspect went to look for a friend, Moyo who provided the transport, a Toyota Quantum minibus. It is alleged that they then loaded the body of the victim into the vehicle and dropped it the following night at Kromdraai bushes and they drove off.

Gumede was a grade 12 learner at Elukhanyisweni Secondary School. She was described as no different from any other young women of her age. The family were still expecting a lot from her as she was about to complete her secondary education and further her studies.

“We have now lost a daughter and a young mother to a little boy who turned one on Friday, October 30. We are all shocked by the devasting news,” said a family member.

The suspects appeared in court on Monday, October 3 and they remain in custody as bail was denied. They will appear again on Monday, October 10.

Police are still busy with their investigations.
The family can start with funeral arrangements after the body has been released to them.
