What better to acknowledge and celebrate the important contributions women have made in our society than with two comedy industry pioneers Tumi Morake and Thenjiwe Moseley. These two excellent comedians need no introduction as they have already made their mark as stand-up comedians.

Tumi discovered the knack of comedy in 2006 and ever since have not stopped making audiences laugh. She has shared stages with comics such as David Kau, Marc Lottering, Stuart Taylor and Chris Forrest, at festivals such as Blacks Only, Whack Jobs, Heavyweights Comedy Jam, King Size Comedy, Old Mutual Comedy Encounters and many more. Amongst many recent career highlights, gigs that stand out include MC’ing at the eight annual Woodstock Festival in 2007, being the only female among international and local acts at the 2009 Vodacom Funny Festival, performing at the inaugural Comics Choice Awards (2011) and being part of the 46664 It’s No Joke line-up. This acclaimed comedian’s genre can be best described as in your face and slightly provocative.

Many people know Thenjiwe for her hilarious videos on social media where she brags about her brother’s fancy funeral. She is also known for a skit where she acts as a sangoma and encourages her clients to check in on Facebook and hashtag on Twitter, when they pay their sangoma a visit. Her work is not only known in South Africa, but internationally as well.

Acclaimed actress Dawn Thandeka King, best known for her starring role as Lindiwe Xulu the wife of self-made gangster Muzi Xulu in the SABC1 telenovela Uzalo, will be the master of ceremonies for the evening.

The show is staged at The Venue on Saturday, August 27 doors open at 17:00. Tickets are R 150 per person and available through Computicket. The Ridge Rewards Cardholders will receive up to 20% discount on a show ticket.
