Items stolen while mother and children were sleeping in the house

House robbed while mother and children were sleeping

A woman was sleeping in her house in Reyno Manor Estate when thieves came into the house and stole a television amongst other things.

The incident happened between the evenings of August 15 and the early hours of August 16. The woman stated that her husband was at work and she was at home sleeping with their three children.

“All the windows were closed and the doors were locked as well when we went to bed,”

said the woman.

She woke up around 06:00 after hearing a knock from her husband who returned from work. When he walked in he noticed that the television, a PlayStation three, laptops and a handbag were stolen.

“I did not hear anything, my children and I were fast asleep. Hence I am not even sure when between the evening and morning the thieves could have been inside the house,”

continued the woman.

It is alleged that the suspects could have gained entry using the lounge’s window as it was still open.

“We do not have burglar bars at the lounge and I am very sure that I closed all windows after calling it a night. I am certain they used that entrance to steal the items,”

said the woman.

She further explains that even though important documents such as her bank card and identity document were stolen and have to be replaced, she is grateful her children were not harmed. When asking around, she could not get a tail of who could have possibly done this.

“People must beware, one can never be extra careful these days. You cannot say because you live in a 24 hour security complex you are safe. Strengthen your security in which ever way you can,”

concluded the woman.

A house robbery case was opened at the Witbank Police Station.
