Family evicted from house

The Shiburi family of Extension 14 were shocked when they received an eviction letter from the sheriff informing them that they needed to vacate the house.

Mr Klaas Shiburi and his wife were left outside after their furniture was removed from the house.

Mr Shiburi confirmed that they started having problems after he was retrenched from work in 2000. They have
been staying in the house since 1994.

He said he could not keep up with the monthly bond payment. He also said they were trying to arrange so that they could pay the installment, but they could not until
they were evicted.

Even though Mr Shiburi said he was evicted, he still has a lot of unanswered questions since he started occupying
the house and was trying to find some answers to no avail.

The goods were removed from the house on Wednesday, January 23 at about 09:00.

The couple has children, though they are not staying with them. The family said even the Cllr Tiny Mabena was aware of their problems. Cllr Mabena did confirm that she has arranged an alternative place for the family to stay.
