The windows and walls of BMW Broadway were given a new paint job via paint balls.

Over the course of the weekend, either on Saturday or Sunday, the business was targeted by a vigilante paintball gun owner who proceeded to ‘spray and prey’ firing off a number of rounds at the business.
The business never had an issue in the twelve years they have been there, apart from the past two years in which the business has been paint balled roughly 14 or 15 times.

One of the windows that cracked after it was shot with what was believed to be a hard compound of paintball.

Mr Johan Zeelie, financial manager received word that the paintballs used were of a harder compound which in turn led to two windows being broken.

“We received a quote to replace the windows and it will end up costing us R150 000,” said Zeelie.

He added that it would cause the company to erect scaffoldings and hire the labour to wash off the windows that were shot at, adding to this is the repainting of one of the walls which was also stained in the shooting.

“We intend to lay a complaint of malicious damage to property and the company requests that paintball clubs within the region assist in the police investigation regarding the shooting to bring the culprits to justice,” said Zeelie.

Zeelie added that luckily no vehicles were damaged in the shooting.

“We are in the process of erecting cameras to monitor the surroundings of the business in the near future,” ended Zeelie.

BMW Broadway isn’t the first victim of paintball shooting, approximately two years ago another business, Kuyasa Mining was targeted and shot at using paintball guns.
