10 Truck tyres were stolen right off of a parked truck at Scarlet Dawn Trading.

The robbery took place on December 11 just after 01:00.
The guard on duty said in his statement to police that he was sitting near the parked truck when he heard a voice say to him that he should not move and should keep quiet.

According to the guard’s statement he saw two armed men make their way to the truck, he was bound at the time with wire as another two suspects made their way to the truck where they began removing the tyres from the truck.

“When I arrived at the business I found the guard tied up with wires,” said Mr George Vilakazi.

Vilakazi added that the guard had only been working at the business for six days.

“We suspect that he might have been involved, I was informed by the guard’s former employer that it was also suspected that he was involved in another theft at the previous business he worked at,” said Vilakazi.

The value of the stolen tyres amounted to an estimated R100 000.

No arrests have yet been made regarding the robbery and theft.
