A water pipe burst in Loftus Versfeld Street last week, after numerous phone calls to the council to report the problem it was only fixed a day and a half later.

On Thursday evening, November 12 residents in Loftus Versfeld were alerted when the water pressure in the house dropped and when they went to check they noticed litres and litres of water running down the street.
Friday morning, November 13 the neighbours in the area all contacted the Emalahleni Local Municipality to report the incident.

“The reason why we felt it was so important to get this leak fixed is because of the current water situation,” said a neighbour on Friday night.

By Friday evening nothing had been done about the burst water pipe as water just went to waste.
The following day at 17:00 municipal workers arrived to fix the burst pipe.
Last week it was reported in the WITBANK NEWS, November 13 that eMalahleni only has water for a year.
