Volkswagen Polo on a robbery spree

Armed robbers are on the loose again.

Armed robbers are on the loose again.
During the past week two cases of armed robbery involving a silver Polo were reported to the Witbank Police Station.
On October 7, Mr Teddy Mwela got a phone call from one of his previous workers asking him to help out with R4 500.

“I agreed as I know the suspect for more than two years, but could only help him with R3900,” Mwela said.

The suspect then offered to give Mwela a laptop and television for guarantee,

“As I locked up my store I got a call from him telling me that we have to meet in Elizabeth Street at the park,” he added.

As Mwela got to the park the suspect and another occupant inside a silver Polo stopped next to him and told him to get into the vehicle.
Inside the vehicle the suspect handed over the laptop and Mwela gave him the cash.
Mwela was busy climbing out of the car when the suspect took out a firearm and threatened to kill him if he did not cooperate.

“I gave all my belongings in moment of shock.” Mwela said.

Mwela was unable to get the registration of the car:

“I did not think about anything else but my own life at that moment,” he added.

The second incident happened on the same day, a man was on the Verena Road seeking a lift to eMalahleni. A man in a Polo stopped and offered him a ride.

The victim got in the vehicle and they drove off to eMalahleni when the second occupant pulled out a firearm. The suspect threatened the victim with the gun and insisted on his belongings.
After the robbers took his cell phone and laptop, they dropped him next to the road and left.

“I don’t know the suspects but I will remember their faces,” the victim added.

No arrests have been made for these two cases but Witbank Police are investigating.
