Exxaro donates another waste removal truck

Waste management was identified as one of the municipality’s primary needs and the second new truck will also be used to service all Ga-Nala areas.

Exxaro’s Matla Mine has donated a waste removal truck to the value of R2-million to the Emalahleni Municipality as part of its Social and Labour Plan projects. This is the second waste removal truck that the mine has donated to the municipality, the first was delivered in 2014. The latest handover took place on September 23.

Waste management was identified as one of the municipality’s primary needs and the second new truck will also be used to service all Ga-Nala areas. This will improve service delivery to the community and will contribute towards the municipality’s fleet replacement programme. Waste collection is improving in the area and the availability of another new vehicle will ensure continuous service delivery. A three-year maintenance plan, worth R126 000, was included in the donation to ensure that the new truck continues to run smoothly.

Commenting on the donation, Matla Mine manager, Risimati Chauke, said that Matla is proud to be able to support the local municipality and community.
The handover ceremony was attended by the Executive Mayor of Emalahleni Local Municipality, Councillor Lindiwe Ntshalintshali.
