Did you know you can get your municipal account via email?

Municipal accounts now sent to residents via email.

For many people waiting for their water and light account to arrive in the post, it has been a problem, but now it will be a thing of the past for the residents who have access to the internet.
When Mr Theo van Vuuren, the acting Municipal Manager arrived in Emalahleni he looked around the council to see where he could make improvements.

For months the Post Office was on strike and the residents weren’t receiving their water and lights accounts.
Then the council was swamped with phone calls from most of the residents requesting the amount that needed to be paid.
Van Vuuren then came up with a very helpful SMS line where you would send a SMS to 47439 with the words BAL and the account number.

Within a couple of minutes you would receive a message back that read; ‘Your eMalahleni account balance is.”
This was very helpful and took a lot of pressure off the people working in the accounts department, unless there was a problem with an account.
Now Van Vuuren has taken it one step further just like most of the other councils around South Africa and now its available via email.
Last week Tuesday, June 30 late in the afternoon, the link for the accounts was launched and residents have only had good things to say about this.

Van Vuuren put this on his page; Important email registration for accounts.
The link to register for email accounts is now active and also on the website, follow this link to register: https://emalahleni.docview.co.za.
When on the link you need to use: Logon: your account number and Password: your account number, then the fields to be completed will appear as well as further instructions.
Log in: Please note – when you log on to the system for the first time you must use your account number as the username and password. After you have logged onto the system you will be able to change your password and update your personal details.

The people of eMalahleni had the following to say about the new email system once they registered.
