Fire ruins family’s home

An electrical short was suspected to be the cause of a fire that ruined the Pargiacci’s home.

The blaze took place on Friday, June 26 at about 14:00.
Mr Dion Coetzee and Weinand van der Merwe were driving past Hoër Tegnies Skool when they saw the smoke, they turned around and made their way to Beyers Street.
“We saw the domestic running out of the house screaming ‘fire, fire’ she managed to get the two children out of the home,” said Coetzee.

One of the Jack Russels had recently had puppies and the two children were hysterical about the puppies that were still trapped in the house.
Coetzee and van der Merwe made their way into the home to help retrieve the puppies, at first they were only able to rescue four of the six puppies, it was later found that the other two had not come to harm and were safe with the rest of their litter.

They called for assistance on the Zello application, and the owner of the house Mr Ivo Pargiacci was told about the fire.
“The first thing that came to my mind was, are the children alright, I was told they were safe,” said Pargiacci with a sigh of relief.
The Emalahleni Fire Department arrived on scene and readied the fire truck to fight the fire.
“SupplyTech Witbank saved my house, they sprayed the fire, they took the knots out of the pipe and they took control of the situation,” said Pargiacci.

Four of the six Jack Russel puppies were rescued, it was later found that all six of the puppies survived the ordeal.

The fire which was believed to have started from an electrical short in the rear of the house, spread across the carpeted rooms almost all the way to the front of the house, it scathed and scorched everything in its path, leaving rooms blackened and without life.
“When I heard about the fire I drove like a bat out of hell, I just wanted to make sure my family was safe,” said Pargiacci.

For the Pargiacci family the fire brought about a lot of pain and suffering in knowing that everything they had worked and strived for had been burnt to crisp, but at the same time if brought relief, knowing that their loved ones survived the fire unharmed, safe.
“I just want to say a special thanks to the guys for fighting the fire and to everyone for their help and support during and after the fire,” said Pargiacci.

Pargiacci added that it was only the material things that were damaged, that these things can be replaced, unlike family which is irreplaceable.
