Alleged unlicensed teenager hits pedestrian

A pedestrian was badly hurt when he was hit by a car that was driven by a teenager.

The teenager who is believed to be a 17 year-old by witnesses was driving in Luthuli Street in Lynnville on Saturday, June 20 at about 10:00. The teenager was driving a Hyundai sedan and it is believed that he was driving at a very high speed. He hit Mr Morris Mokweng who was badly hurt in both legs. He was taken by an ambulance to Witbank Hospital.

Witnesses said the teenager took the car for a wash from Zulu Street in the same area but went to do other errands and that is when he hit Mr Mokweng. He first hit iron bars before hitting Mr Mokweng.
Police came to the scene and statements were taken from the crying teenager who was sitting on the road.

The police reported that the teenager was arrested and charged with driving without a licence.
