Young pup left for dead is well on her way to recovery

The six-month-old puppy that was hit by a car is recovering well and hopefully the owner will come claim it, if not it will be in need of a loving and caring family, and a home.

The incident took place on May 29 in Clarendon Street. Ms Ester Muller noticed that the dog had been hit by a car and intervened.
Muller who was assisted by a passer-by was able to get the Labrador into her vehicle and took it to Klipfontein Animal Clinic where it was treated.

X-rays taken at the clinic later that day revealed that the pup had sustained a pelvic and femur-neck fracture.
Dr Dawie Havelaar and his assistant Jantjie Tau tended to the dog, doing what they could to help minimise the pain and to repair the damage done.
In a previous interview Dr Havelaar said that the pup would need to undergo orthopaedic surgery and that they have done everything they could for her.

The pup was given plenty of kennel rest and is well looked after.
It has been nearly a month and her owner still has not come to fetch her from the clinic.
“She is recovering well, we are hoping that the joints will set in nicely, she has a while to full recovering,” said Dr Havelaar.

Only time will tell on how the pup’s recovery will unfold and if its supposed owner will come claim it, if not it will be in need of a loving and caring family, and a home.
