A suspected mob justice was the cause of a murder at Old Coronation. A body was allegedly beaten, burnt and then dumped into the river. According to the SAPS Communications Officer, Sgt David Ratau, the friend of the deceased claimed that he saw his friend being beaten and set alight. But community members warned him to stay away or he will be next.
The deceased allegedly stole a plasma television and community members then took the law into their own hands on Monday, June 1.
On Wednesday afternoon, June 3, Witbank police received a call stating that a body have been found.
The friend of the deceased said that all he could do was turn around and walk away.
*A post mortem will be done to confirm the definite cause of death.
