Breakfast with Frank Rautenbach

Frank will be leaving Los Angeles to do a South African tour in June and will be stopping by at New Life Church Witbank to host a men’s event on Saturday, June 13 at 08:00.
During the ‘Life after Faith Like Potatoes’ tour, Frank will share the refining work God has done in his life since the making of that movie where he played the character of Angus Buchan, the legendary South African farmer and itinerant minister.

Frank grew up surfing, playing rugby, golfing and riding dirt bikes in East London. Despite a strong Christian upbringing, his faith wavered as he entered his teens. He graduated from the prestigious Selborne College.
Frank got back on spiritual track when a girl broke up with him. “At the time the only thing that comforted me was reading the Bible and praying. My dad was sick in bed and his words of comfort helped pull me through”.
Thanks to his school friend, Mark Andrews (World Cup winning Springbok), Frank ended up playing rugby at French Rugby Club Arpajon in 1991.

Over the next three years Frank would hang up his rugby boots, be awakened to God’s call on his life and attend the International Bible College of London to graduate with a diploma in Christian Studies. He returned home to complete a degree in Economics and Industrial Psychology, and motivated and enthused by God’s call, graduated with an A aggregate. He also met his future wife Leigh at church in Cape Town. They married in February 1996.
While studying, Frank honed his acting skills shooting commercials and during his final exams landed a lead role in 7de Laan. He also landed a recording contract with BMG. But Frank remained drawn to storytelling through film. After four years on 7de Laan, Frank and Leigh moved to Los Angeles and he has since shot the movies ‘Faith Like Potatoes’, ‘Hansie’, ‘The Film Maker’s Son’ and ‘The Bang Bang Club’.

Frank is also actively involved in ministry at his home church. This ranges from leading the kids in worship on Sundays to teaching in various midweek groups, whilst Leigh is the church executive administrator.
‘Breakfast with Frank’ costs only R100, which includes the breakfast and the ministry from Frank. To book for this event, click here and register your name.
