Andries’s vivacity and drive has always been apparent, winning him accolades from childhood through to adulthood… his future as entertainer was guaranteed when he won several eisteddfods and numerous art festivals and pageants.
Fast forward to 2014/2015, and it’s clear – Andries’s been busy: After 18 Years of entertainment / Modeling he has decided to divide his attention and focus more on the corporate side of life and has taken up a new venture, He is a fulltime employer of one of South Africa’s trusted NPO’s (Non Profitable Organizations), CANSA (the Cancer Association of South Africa) and enjoys every moment of it! He is no stranger when it comes to charity involvement and enjoys making a difference in the lives of those less fortunate or in need.
Stage?? Indeed. As Choreographer, Professional Tap Dancer, Model and beyond…, landing lead parts in Burlesque to Moulin Rouge to more recent Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby to only name a few, One of his highlights was to model for Dolce n Gabanna, He has appeared in many national / international print & Media, and many more!
He is also a fantastic Compere and Motivational speaker, often sought by corporate clientele to captivate and inspire with his energy.
Undeniably, though, on top his other successes, most South Africans could tell you that Andries is a household name and is loved by many…
WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT YOUR PROFESSION?
A: I have been working for the (Cancer Association Of South Africa) CANSA Highveld Care Centre as a Community Mobiliser for the past 9 months and loving every moment of it! Part of my job is Fundraising and Project Development , I feel that projects should be innovative and fun as we totally rely on the support of the public, with this we get the chance to interact with the public and making a difference together.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE LEAST?
A: People that is dishonest, two faced and using other people’s creativity!
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DOING THIS?
A: I have been a Volunteer for CANSA for 4 Years. And now working for CANSA as a Community Mobiliser for the past 9 Months!
WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY?
A: Giving !, It really makes me happy to support people in need, showering my loved ones with gifts / treats makes me happy to! on a lighter note… baking my favourite Red Velvet Cup Cakes, drinking Iced Coffee and Shopping off course!!!
IF YOU COULD GO BACK IN TIME, WHAT WOULD YOU DO DIFFERENTLY?
A: Absolutely Nothing as I believe everything happens with a reason and builds character.
WHO ARE YOUR HEROES?
A: I don’t have a Hero or someone that I specifically look up to, however I do get inspired by individuals and one Individual that I really look up to is late Mr. Nelson Mandela this unique person made something from being a nothing and was a remarkable person fighting for what he believed in and being a Father of a Rainbow Nation
WHO DO YOU HAVE NO RESPECT FOR?
A: People abusing Animals and Children
WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME?
A: I have to admit, I am a workaholic and don’t have a lot of spare time…. But I latterly force myself sometimes to take time off, then I like relaxing on my couch watching DVD’s, spending time at home relaxing with friends or family
DO YOU DO ANY VOLUNTEER WORK?
A: Yes! I love supporting those less fortunate, Working for CANSA does not allow me to do allot of charity outreach anymore but with the wonderful support of EASTVAAL MOTORS we squeeze in time to support! I have been involved & Supporting several charities, such as Reach For a Dream (fulfilling dreams of Children between the ages 3 &18 years, suffering from a life threatening disease), Teddy Bear Clinic (for abused children and women) at Christmas time I enjoy visiting the Hospitals, Children’s Wards, Old age Homes etc.
HOW HAVE YOU CHANGED?
A: being a Philanthropist has changed my life in sooooo many ways. I am great full that I am in the situation to give and I thank my heavenly father everyday for blessing me with the talents, the love and passion I have for Life and Its People.
WHAT’S THE SIDE OF YOU THAT THE PUBLIC NEVER SEES?
A: I keep my personal life away from public and try to switch off when I’m not in the public, but what people do not know about me is that I am an actual introvert.
HOW HARD DO YOU PUSH YOURSELF?
A: This is the thing I push myself to beyond. Being my biggest critic myself it is really hard to satisfy myself and I always try to exceed expectations.
WHEN ARE YOU COMPLETELY SATISFIED WITH YOUR WORK?
A: when I step back and observe and it exactly comes out the way I have planned BUT there is always space for improvement.

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT CANCER?
A: Cancer is part of our everyday life and its becoming more and more popular amongst the Youth. This disease should be eradicated; however I feel that we should make those smart choices in life and live a healthy life.
