Spurs lose game in dying minutes

Witbank Spurs lost a game they should have won easily in the first half, and more so playing at home.

Spurs lacked the killer instinct when they lost to African Warriors at Puma Rugby Stadium on Sunday, March 15. African Warriors beat Spurs 1-0.
It was evident from the start of the match that both sides did not have what it takes to wrap the match. There was no urgency shown by both teams. Witbank Spurs’ right back Mogau Tshehla’s place-kick did not connect and again Spurs’ forward Ranga Chivaviro missed from a cross by Dumi Tau.

Warriors were led by two veterans David Radebe former Kaizer Chiefs forward and Tsweu Mokoro former Super Sport defender.
Spurs could not combine well in the midfield and a lot of passes were wasted by their players. Going forward they could not penetrate Warriors’ defence.

Warriors’ place-kick went over the bar with Spurs’ keeper Luvo Nkala well beaten. There was nothing to write about except for a few misses from both teams in the first half.
In the second half Spurs tried to control the match with a lot of crosses from Tshehla and Tau but nothing positive came from that.
Even Peter Mubayiwa with his experience failed to break through Warriors wall. Warriors were a thorn in Spurs defence, but Victor Ngunyule took care of it.

Both teams made some substitutes without any change in the completion of the match.
Mokoro scored the only goal of the match in the dying minutes of the game.
While Warriors with the three points gained away from home takes them to 12th place on the log with 25 points, Spurs on the other hand, dropped to third-from-bottom with only 22 points from the same number of games. Golden Arrows are still leading the pack with 44 points from 22 games. They beat Garankuwa 2-0 in their last game.
