Several dozen marijuana cigarettes found on school boys

Police arrested five suspects, who were in possession of drugs with a street value of R5 000.

The arrest was made on February 3 by undercover Tactical Response Team (TRT) members.
Earlier in the day, Sgt David Ratau was called to Witbank High by the principal, where two 17-year-old boys and one 16-year-old boy were found with several dozen marijuana cigarettes. They were arrested and taken to Witbank Police Station.

The drugs that the boys had in their possession led to the arrest of five Nigerian nationals, who will be appearing in court soon to plead. Their initial appearance was on February 9 at Witbank Magistrate’s Court.
Other drug related incidents and arrests were made last week as well.

A prisoner at Paxton Prison was charged with possession of drugs, when 13 pinches of drugs were found rolled up in his underwear during a routine search.
Apparently the street value of the drugs is about R500. This occurred on February 2.
Two suspects were arrested in Jellico Street at about 20:00 that same day. A police patrol spotted a suspicious van parked next to the road. They approached the vehicle and saw two people inside.

They asked to conduct a search and quickly found dagga in their possession. The suspects were arrested.
