Children open their hearts for smiles

Robert Carruthers School raised enough money for at least two cleft pallet surgeries.

The school took on the Operation Smile Challenge, spearheaded by Danel Esterhuizen, the school was able to raise R13 000.
The pre-schoolers sold treats and popcorn to raise money, they also had their faces painted, the Grade Rs were treated to a water fun day. Just through the civvies tax, the school was able to raise enough money for one operation, not to mention the money raised by the Grade 7s and teachers.

There were a number of children that opened mom and dad’s wallets to help pay for surgeries, the school plans to have another fundraising day soon as Keegan Longueira makes his way down through Africa for Operation Smile.
