Kriel police nab wrong doers

Kriel SAPS arrested 22 suspects between the ages of 19 and 57.

The suspects were arrested during police daily operations that were conducted between November 25 and December 2 for different crimes such as theft, assault, residential burglary, drunken driving, possession of dagga, fraud, house robbery, possession of suspected stolen property and drinking in public.

The police warn the community of Ga-nala be more careful and vigilant during the festive season.
W/O Emmarancia Kgosana said, “Take note that the thugs are aware of the high volume of the home owners who are leaving for holidays during this time of the year and take advantage of it.”

The police give some helpful hints on keeping safe this holiday. Make sure to lock all your valuables away in a safe place before leaving the house. Do not broadcast details like when you will be returning or leaving for holiday on social media for example. Before leaving on holiday make sure your house is locked up and that the curtains are drawn, so that no one can see inside your house from the outside.
On November 29 a 63-year-old man went to bed and when he woke up the next morning he discovered burglars had stolen his HD TV.

Burglars apparently gained entrance into the house through a window in the dining room that they broke open.
On Friday, November 28 a woman went to Pretoria for the day. She left in the afternoon and when she returned on the Saturday morning she immediately saw that her house was burgled. Thieves apparently gained entrance through a window at the side of the house. Her TV and laptop were stolen.
