Oops… wrong examination paper

Matriculants throughout eMalahleni were surprised to receive the wrong examination paper when they were due to write Engineering Graphics (Technical Drawing) 2.

Matriculants were set to write Engineering Graphics 2 on Monday, November 10.
When they received their exam papers everything seemed in order as the cover sheet read Engineering Graphics Paper 2, however after peeling away the cover sheet the paper seemed all too familiar.

In fact the paper was last week’s Engineering Graphics 1. This caused a bit of chaos as the matriculants had been given the wrong examination papers.

When asked about the issue, the Department of Education responded:
“We can confirm that there was a slight delay of about 10 minutes for learners who were writing the Afrikaans version of Engineering Graphics, however this had no negative impact on the whole processes,” said Mr Jasper Zwane, Department of Education communications.

They further confirmed that they had spoken to the principals of the schools who confirmed this.
On visiting one of the schools that offered the subject of Engineering Graphics, WITBANK NEWS was informed that the school had signed an agreement of confidentiality with the Department of Education and that no information regarding the matter could be released.
“So far the examination is progressing pretty well in the province and this year marks the fifth year of an incident free and highly professionally managed examination process,” added Zwane.

However on WITBANK NEWS’ social media it came to light that the correct paper apparently had to be e-mailed through to the schools offering the subject and the examination paper had to be printed in order for the pupils to write their exam, causing a delay in the writing process.

Matriculants can look forward to receiving their matric results on January 6, 2015.

Good luck matrics.
