‘Schoolboy’s’ court case postponed

Friday, November 9 2012 the decomposed body of 14-year-old Ntokozo Mtsweni was found in a reed plantation next to the N12 highway.

In disbelief Mr Jeremiah and Ms Helen Mtsweni heard the words that the trial of the boy who allegedly killed their daughter was postponed.
The words bounced off the walls in the tiny office when State Prosecutor, Mr Erik van der Merwe, broke the news to them on Monday, October 27.

The suspect accused of the murder of their 14-year-old daughter, Ntokozo in November 2012 has to wait until May to hear his fate.
Ms Mtsweni cried silently, clamping her hands together while staring into nowhere. For this family the tragedy is still a fresh wound.

The suspect was only a schoolboy of 17 when he was arrested after Ntokozo’s body was discovered.
Ntokozo’s family searched for her non-stop after she did not return home on Sunday, October 21 2012. Her parents were under the impression she visited a friend in Tasbet Park Extension 1 to do some maths homework.

After Ntokozo was killed, Mr Mtsweni received SMSs demanding a ransom of R400 000 for the safe return of his daughter.
The police traced the cell phone to another youth who told them he bought the phone for R60 from the suspect.

More than two weeks after Ntokozo’s disappearance, her decomposed body was found in a reed plantation next to the N12 highway. The suspect was arrested on November 9.
