Racing his Amtec Racing Yamaha 125cc, Tyron Nel throttled his way into third place at the last World of Motorsport ZA (WOMZA) Nationals for the year.

The last WOMZA National took place over the first weekend of September at Syringa Park in Gauteng. Tyron’s hopes of a podium finish boiled down to this race and he came through. Mud splattered and physically tested the young teenager claimed his third place, which also netted him an overall fourth place for the year.

“The season started off slow with me ending in the top six, but as it progressed my speed got a whole lot better and I was constantly getting fourth places. The highlight was taking a third place in the last nationals,” said Tyron.

“His speed has improved immensely in the past two months and he has the speed to run with the best in his class,” said Gary, Tyron’s dad.
Tyron and his dad wish to thank Grant Foley for the work on the bike, as well as Adrian Bac from the Yamaha pits, Wayne Nel for helping out throughout the weekend, and the Thompson family for a place to crash their heads at night.

“Thank you Michael Hayton and your team, for all your support and dedication that you have given us through the last two years,” said Gary.
“I really want a win next season. I am training and riding hard, so that come next season I can constantly be on the podium, and undoubtedly win a few races,” said Tyron, optimistically.

Keep and eye on this Kamakazi Kid as his skills will take him further up the podium as he follows in his dad’s steps to become a motocross champion.
