The hidden camera inside a truck revealed the story and the faces of the men involved in an alleged hijacking and murder of Philani Myeni.
On Friday, September 5 a truck was found abandoned next to the old Ogies road where police discovered the body of 30-year-old Myeni.
Myeni had been working the previous day when he was allegedly hijacked. He was found dead in the truck he was driving with a gunshot wound to his left shoulder.
Police and a forensic team investigated and searched the scene where the truck was found, to try and recover information on what had happened.
Fortunately, a hidden security camera in the truck revealed what had transpired before Myeni was shot and killed.
“There were four men in the truck with him,” Mr Sam Nbhele, Myeni’s co-worker, had pointed out on the pictures taken from the footage. On some of the images, one of the suspects reveals a firearm, which he seems to use to threaten Myeni with.
“He was always such a friendly guy,” Nbhele remembers sadly when he speaks about Myeni.
“He worked hard to provide and take care of his family back in Swaziland,” he added. Myeni will be missed by all who knew him.
*A reward is offered to anyone who knows the whereabouts of the suspects that would lead to their arrest.
