The man accused of breaking his fiancée’s neck, was denied bail.

The man who was arrested on Thursday, September 4 was taken back to Paxton Correctional Services after he was denied bail on Monday, September 8.

The 40-year-old man was arrested after he broke his fiancée’s neck on August 23 during what is believed to be a scuffle.
“We had friends over and my fiancée had me in a tight grip, like a wrestling grip. I screamed at him, yelling that he was hurting me. Yet he did not let go, he only held me tighter,” said Kim-Anne Carlysle McCullum (50).

She said after he let go she had no feeling in her arms and legs.
“My friends and my fiancée put me in bed. Later that night I awoke and asked him to help me get to the toilet, but he would not,” she recalled her hours of anguish.

It was only when her mom, Ms Ann Carlysle McCullum and brother, Shaun, arrived at her house the following day, that she was taken to hospital.

Carlysle McCullum was transferred to Rob Ferreira Hospital in Nelspruit where her neck was operated on.
Luckily her spinal cord was not affected.

After the operation on September 2 she was transferred back to Witbank Hospital. Once she was back, she opened a case of attempted murder against the man whose engagement ring she wore.

She was released from hospital and is recuperating at home under the care of her mom.
“I don’t hate him. He is a chapter in my life I need to close,” she whispered before tears clouded her eyes.
