Spurs win in style

Scoring one goal in each half enabled Spurs to beat Cape Town All Stars during their second match of the new season.

Spurs played to a 1-1 all draw with Thanda Royal Zulu in their opening away match, and they beat Cape Town All Stars 2-0 at Themba Senamela Stadium in Middelburg on Sunday, August 31.

Spurs have made a good start easy as they have accumulated four points in two games.
With both teams playing a cautious match, Spurs were the first to open their game playing wide and using their wings effectively. Spurs also controlled the middle of the pack.

Spurs winger Randy Ngobe missed with a wide shot after being set with a chest trap by Dumi Gumede. All Stars threw everything at Spurs but all their attempts failed.

All Stars captain missed with a shot after making his way through the field. Spurs scored a ‘beauty’ after only seven minutes from the boot of Xoli Themba after controlling the ball well.

Sizwe Mhlabine also tried his luck but his attempt went wide.
All Stars came strong towards the end of the first half, but they found the Spurs central defense manned by Sibusiso Mbonani, Sihle Mpuqa and Mxolisi Khoza.

Spurs were playing without their twins Patrick and Peter Mubayiwa, who are still sorting out their permits.
Spurs captain Mbonani’s shots went wide after dribbling the ball to the Stars goal post.

An All Stars forward shot was fisted by Spurs’ keeper Briace Msiza. Spurs led 1-0 at half time.
In the second half All Stars nearly scored from a place-kick. A through pass from Spurs was nearly scored by Doctor Skhosana. Both teams made substitutes but results did not come by.

Positive results only came when Ngobe striked from outside the penalty box beating All Stars keeper hands down, goal that would a put a smile on his father, Aces legend Thomas ‘Junior’ Ngobe.

All Stars tried but failed to make matters equal.
