Mpumalanga has muscle and tone

There were many muscles and toned bodies at the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB) Mpumalanga Provincials and the hard work paid off once again.

The provincials took place on Saturday, August 9 at Witbank Civic Theatre.
Bodybuilding has been a sport and lifestyle for many decades; it takes hard work and dedication.

“Most of us are serious about the sport and we take it up as a lifestyle rather than a sport. The way we eat and need to eat and live our lives is a complete change for the good,” said Jaco van der Walt, chairman of Mpumalanga Bodybuilding Association.

History was made on Saturday as the first provincial international federation for body building event took place in eMalahleni.
“This was the best and biggest show Mpumalanga has ever seen,” Jaco said.

On Saturday, the best athletes were chosen to represent Mpumalanga in Cape Town from September 10 to 13 in the SA championships, where they can even be selected to represent SA in the Amateur Olympia Championships at Carnival City in October. That is a world’s championship competition, first time ever to be hosted in South Africa.

There were several divisions that the athletes competed in.
