Seven suspects arrested for murder, assault and kidnapping, expected to appear in court

Men arrested for allegedly assaulting alleged burglars

In a shocking incident in Vosman, seven suspects have been arrested for allegedly assaulting two men accused of breaking into a local tavern. The brutal attack resulted in the death of a 38-year-old man and left a 29-year-old severely injured.

According to Captain Magonseni Nkosi, the suspects allegedly launched a manhunt for the alleged burglars on Friday and Saturday, October 11 and 12.

The 29-year-old victim was found and taken to the tavern, where he was allegedly assaulted with various objects and boiling water poured over his body. He survived the ordeal.

Tragically, the second victim, a 38-year-old, was also found and allegedly subjected to some torture. He was released after his child intervened but succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.

The police condemned the incident, emphasizing concerns about vigilantism.

Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, stated, “This incident highlights our concerns about vigilantism and the importance of letting law enforcement handle criminal situations.”

The seven suspects, aged between 28 and 43, are expected to appear before the Witbank Magistrate’s Court today (October 16), for murder, assault, and kidnapping.

Further arrests may be made pending additional investigation.
