Sanca's talent show in Ackerville gives youngsters a creative outlet
Jubilation, clapping and praise could be heard echoing through the streets of Ackerville on Heritage Day, as the youth gathered to showcase their skills, as opposed to using the public holiday to get into harmful activities that have become the scourge of the streets of Ackerville.
On Tuesday, September 24, the Sanca hosted a talent show at El Shaddai Christian Centre in Ackerville.
They were there giving the youth an outlet for their creative spirits and something to strive towards and develop, instead of getting involved in the drugs and alcohol scene that is claiming the lives of young people in the community, destroying their heritage and legacy.
The talent on display was top class, with acts including dancing, spoken word, drama, art, and choir performances that were singing their hearts out.
“The talent show was a great success and well-supported. We were not expecting this amount of support and were pleasantly surprised to sell 180 tickets. The money from ticket sales was very needed for our drug prevention programmes. As we are an NPO, we rely heavily on fund-raising. Thank you to all who supported us, not only giving us funds to reach more of the community, but also for supporting the youth that took part, and showing them that the community has their back for these positive activities,” said Felistas Mandvyanoke from Sanca.
