Ackerville community celebrate Vuma Primary School Heritage Day

Teachers, learners, and parents celebrated the day in their traditional attires and cuisines.

Heritage Day recognises and celebrates the wealth and diversity of our rich cultural landscape.

It is celebrated on September 24 each year. Vuma Primary School teachers and learners truly embraced their heritage by dressing up in traditional attires that represent different cultural groups.

The event was levelled with traditional cuisines that were cooked with the infamous three-legged pots set on firewood by the school’s group.

Vuma Primary School teacher Lehlogonolo Phahlamohlake embraced her Pedi tradition.

Parents showed up to support the event and assisted the school with decorations and the day’s menu.

“We love to support our children and teachers at the school because that is what our heritage stands for,” the proud parents told WITBANK NEWS.

Vuma Primary School principal Xolile Mtshali could not contain her excitement as she witnessed the school’s successful proceedings.

Ditebogo Mpuru, Angela Sibande, Enzokuhle Sibande, Sizwe Sibande, Jennifer Tiba, and Amukelani Msiza.

“I would like to thank all our sponsors who made this a success. We received so many donations of food, meat, and money to cover the cost. I want to thank the teachers for their unity that made this day a success for the learners.

The parents did an outstanding décor, not to mention the support they always give to the school. From the bottom of my heart, I wish to thank the almighty God, the teachers, and parents,” Xolile shared.

The event on Wednesday, September 18, was also attended by Emalahleni FM, who broadcast live from the school.

The MC for the day was Dumi ‘Smorosi Wodumo’ Mahlangu who is the host of the breakfast house show at the station, thanked WITBANK NEWS for the coverage and said, “Heritage month is an event where we celebrate different cultures and showcase where we come from, and it also represents our unity,” Dumi ended.
