Safety first this Heritage Day

Major General Dr. Zeph Mkhwanazi, the Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service encourages all citizens to be safe and responsible this Heritage Day.

Major General Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi, the Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Mpumalanga, has a special message for Heritage Day.

He’s encouraging everyone in Mpumalanga to embrace ‘Ubuntu’ values, respect each other’s lives and property, and strive for peace and harmony in their communities.

As people come together to celebrate their shared heritage, the police are reminding everyone to prioritize safety.

This means avoiding driving under the influence of alcohol or other substances, being cautious during gatherings, and keeping an eye on children when they’re swimming in pools, dams, or rivers.

People are also encouraged not to swim or partake in water activities if they have been drinking.

Major General Mkhwanazi emphasizes the importance of working together to combat crime and create a secure environment for all.

He encourages community members to unite and address the challenges of crime that affect everyone.

“We encourage members of the community to come together on this day to celebrate our shared heritage, while also addressing the challenges of crime that impact us all. The SAPS emphasizes the importance of working collectively to combat crime and create a safe and secure environment for all,” said Major General Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi.
