Broad daylight robbery rocks Claredon Street

Clarendon Street shop robbed in brazen daylight heist.

In a shocking display of audacity, a group of thieves struck the heart of Claredon Street, leaving a trail of fear in its wake.

According to the police reports on Wednesday, August 14, a complainant alleged he visited a store on Claredon Street to purchase cosmetics.

Upon arrival, he parked his silver Mercedes-Benz and entered the premises.

While the complainant was still inside the store, he witnessed three suspects allegedly engaged in a heated argument with the store owner.

As he waited for the situation to resolve, the suspects instructed everyone to lie on the ground.

One of the suspects then allegedly inquired about the owner of the Mercedes-Benz, and upon being identified, the complainant was then allegedly tied up with cable ties.

The suspect then allegedly took the vehicle keys and fled the scene with the complainant’s car.

Captain Eddie Hall from Witbank Police gave these tips: “Avoid being alone in a vehicle when traveling at night. Do not stop around hijacking spots or in any secluded area. Always be alert when driving. If you suspect that you are being followed by a suspicious vehicle, drive to the nearest police station or call the SAPS Emergency Number 10111. Avoid distractions such as being on your phone, drinking, and driving. Increase caution at intersections; always keep a look-out for people loitering around your car or for any sudden activity around your car.”
