Burglary at a house in Ackerville

Mr Jabu Mathebula is confused after money in a safe together with his laptop were stolen from his mother’s house in Ackerville.

It believed that thieves broke into the house on Saturday, July 12 while there was nobody in the home. The thieves entered the house through a window, which was accidentally not closed, and broke a burglar bar to gain entry.

They then passed through the dining room, lounge and broke a door in one of the rooms where they stole a safe, which was kept in the wardrobe. Inside the safe was R28 000 and a wallet, which contained R12 000.

They also stole a laptop valued at R3 000 and a Samsung galaxy cell phone valued at R1 000 and two other cell phones both valued at
R1 000. Mercedes Benz keys, which were in the safe, were also stolen.

What surprises the family is that they have a television, a DVD, a home theatre and other valuable electrical items, which were not touched by the thieves.
