Community mobilizes to find missing dog Bella

“We are devastated by Bella’s disappearance, she is still new to our family, and not yet accustomed to her new environment. We are worried sick about her safety,” said George.

A heartwarming display of community spirit has unfolded in Riverview as residents join forces to find Bella.

Bella is a beloved Boston Terrier who went missing from her home in Modelpark on Wednesday, July 24.

The dog’s owner, George Robson, is leading the hunt with the assistance of Boston Terrier Rescue South Africa, and the local community.

George and his family picked up Bella from Boston Terrier Rescue South Africa on Friday, July 19, and spent as much time as possible with her over the weekend.

They had arranged for their dogs to be let out around 10:00 daily to allow them to sleep in during the cold winter days and would take them in again around 15:00.

However, somehow Bella managed to get out of the house between 10:00 and 13:00 on Wednesday.

“We are devastated by Bella’s disappearance, she is still new to our family and not yet accustomed to her new environment. We are worried sick about her safety,” said George.

Despite obstacles, the community has rallied to help find Bella.

Social media messages have been shared, flyers shared, and search parties have been formed.

K9 Loki Search and Rescue has joined the search, utilising its skills and equipment to locate Bella’s scent.

Bella has been spotted in several locations, including OR Tambo, Toyota, Shoprite, HTS Witbank, Panorama Primary, and Riverview Estate.

On Sunday, Anesta from Boston Terrier Rescue South Africa emerged from the springs with posters inviting people to join the Sunday search party.

They also arranged for K9 Loki search and search and Rescue to help track Bella.

Loki and Enya, the comfort dog, found positive scents in a conveyor yard on Dora Street, which led them to the Riverview Waste Water Treatment Works.

Bella was observed in several locations, including Riverview Estate, where she was seen at the gate, and Jackaroo plots, where a good sighting was missed by 20 minutes.

The search group is requesting the community to keep a watch out for Bella and report any sightings right now.

If seen, please do not try to catch her, but rather call her name calmly and contact George at 082 3306 179.

The search party is also in need of a thermal drone service provider, please contact George.

“We are grateful for the support and willingness of the community to help find Bella, we will not give up until she is back home with us,” said George.

There will be a reward for finding the missing dog.
