Burglars steal valuables and cash

The Witbank Police are demanding vigilance from eMalahleni residents as the number of house robberies is on the rise.

A brazen house robbery occurred in Duvha Park, leaving valuables stolen and a family shaken.

According to the complainant, on June 24 at around 02:00, two unknown men entered the residence at Ephraim Mogale High armed with a firearm.

They allegedly demanded the victim’s cellphones and proceeded to ransack the house, stealing various items.

The alleged stolen items included two cellphones, a television, a gas heater, a camera, jewellery, and two laptops.

According to the police, the suspects also withdrew an unknown amount of money from the husband’s banking app using his phone.

The Witbank Police are investigating the incident, and anyone with information is urged to come forward.

Captain Eddie Hall from the Witbank Police Station offered a few tips to ensure the safety of residents and their belongings:

• Always be on the lookout for suspicious persons and vehicles.

• Enhance security by fitting access doors with security gates and installing burglar bars on the windows.

• Remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
